On the flight over I randomly spotted and ad for the New Zealand Whisky Company and since it was on our route we of course planned a stop. Its right in the historic part of Oamaru which made the stop even better so we could walk around a bit after our tasting and before driving again 🙂
There were three tasting flight options, BK chose the middle one so that we could try their current most popular, the Doublewood.
The single malt 1993 and the doublewood were our favorites – the 1992 single task took our breath away (not in a good way!).
We bought a couple small bottles – I especially loved the labeling on the South Island bottle above showing the original distillery through the bottle on the back label. fun stop!
