Since we were staying at Marques de Riscal (yay Starwood points!), we couldn’t miss out on their tour. It’s a beautiful setting in the small town of Elciego, with the dramatic Gehry-designed building hard to miss as you arrive.
The intro video wasn’t working, se we launched right into exploring the vineyards and the cellar.
They produce 94% Tempranillo here and 60% of it is exported.
There are 130,000 bottles in the private collection, 80% still drinkable – oldest bottle is from 1862.
